Sutherlandia Frutescens is a plant indigenous to South Africa. It is also known as Mmusa pelo wa noka/ Cancer bush and it is considered to be good general medicine. Sutherlandia tea – has a very bitter taste.
USES:
Traditionally uses for treatments of internal cancers, blood cleanser, an antidepressant. Immune booster. It is also used to treat colds, flu, asthma, TB, bronchitis, rheumatism, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, liver problems, haemorrhoids, piles, bladder, uterus, diarrhoea and dysentery, stomach ailments, heartburn, peptic ulcers, backache, diabetes, varicose veins and inflammation. It is also used in the treatment of mental and emotional stress, including irritability, anxiety and depression and is used as a gentle tranquilliser. It is said to be a useful bitter tonic and that a little taken before meals will aid digestion and improve the appetite.
SERVING SUGGESTION
TEA BAG:
- Use one teabag per cup. Add freshly boiled water, allow to brew for 3 minutes.
LOOSE TEA:
- Add 1 tablespoon per cup, allow to boil for 3 minutes and serve.
